Deep Listening and Yin Yoga

Insomnia Festival

23. October 2021

Welcome to this deep listening concert and yin yoga session with Sofie Birch and Jenny Sørensen Vaage!

Sofie Birch is a sound artist and producer known for her extensive work with soft ambient releases, live shows, animation films and art installations. With electronic hardware and field recordings, she creates melodic compositions that are produced with a sense of brightness and spirit encouraging its listeners to dream and dwell. She has a profound interest in the healing nature of sound and vibrations and works across disciplines with other artists on expanding our understanding of mind and body through art.

For this unique event Sofie will collaborate with local yoga teacher Jenny Sørensen Vaage, melting a deep listening experience with yin yoga.

The event will start with a short introduction about deep listening by Sofie Birch, followed by a 75 minute yin yoga class led by Jenny accompanied by Soife’s live improvisations.

ABOUT YIN YOGA:
Yin yoga is a deep, meditative style of yoga focused on relaxation, breath and awareness. Yin yoga targets your deep connective tissues, like your fascia, ligaments, joints, and bones. It’s slow and meditative, giving you space to turn inward and tune into both your mind and the physical sensations of your body - and for this event time to connect with the music. Because you’re holding poses for a longer period of time (usually 3-5 minutes), yin yoga helps you stretch and lengthen rarely-used tissues while also teaching you how to breathe through discomfort and sit with your thoughts.

Due to the long holds and stillness of yin yoga it is perfectly combined with deep listening.

Bring your own yoga mat and a warm blanket. It can be a cooling practice.
It’s recommended to dress in layers and bring warm socks.

Welcome to this deeply meditative yoga and sound experience at Small Projects on Saturday October 23!
