Composing New Forms of Coexistence

understory uses fascination as an emotion to encourage visitors to explore and discover ecological relationships. At its heart are three protagonists: sea urchins, kelp and humans, intertwined with one another and the ocean in a threefold relationship of interdependence. The exhibition questions our role within these relationships. Observers of our project become active and responsible participants.

Through our artistic practice, we reassemble fragmented knowledge drawn from lived experience, close observation of Tromsø's underwater environments, citizen science and marine research. The exhibition thus becomes a research space in which discovery, hope and influence can be experienced through the senses. understory unfolds as a space of sensory immersion and inquiry, where moving image, sound, photography and spatial installation converge.

The collaborative team consists of Jacqueline, Florentine, and Martha. Jacqueline and Florentine studied at Design Academy Eindhoven, while Martha holds a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and studied Fine Arts at Bauhaus University Weimar.
